McNears Beach Park

The hillside group picnic area at McNear’s Beach Park is a popular shaded destination within the park, but the site needed significant renovation to be compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. A new curved, stone wall was added at the entry to level the paving for pedestrians and wheel chairs and to accent a beautiful, mature Coast Live Oak. Wide entry steps that comply with ADA standards lead to a landing which directs visitors to the first of several stair cases and picnic areas on the hillside. Sonoma field stone boulders are built into the hillside to retain the slope and to integrate the steps with the site for an indigenous look.
